I Have Failed at Many Things

A short reflection on the things we delay learning, why starting matters, and the opportunity hidden even in failure.

October 12, 2026

Hey {{firstName}},

I have failed at many things.

Not because I tried and couldn't succeed, but because I never even started.

There are skills I've wanted to learn. I've even imagined what my life might look like if I had them, but I never took the steps to acquire them.

I wonder how many of us are in this position.

Sometimes, we discover that a skill might take a year to learn, and we think, "A whole year?"

But the interesting thing is that the year will pass whether we spend it learning or not.

Of course, we can't pursue every interest. But we should be more intentional about the things that could make a meaningful difference in our lives.

Every time we try something new, we build our learning muscle. We learn to solve problems, make mistakes, and try again. Even when we fail, the experience isn't necessarily wasted.

So, here's a question for you:

What's that one thing you've wanted to learn for a long time but haven't started?

Give yourself the opportunity to try. Even if you discover it's not for you, you'll have learned something along the way.
